Conditioning circuit for piezo sensors

The voltage generated by a piezo sensor is weak, so it must first be amplified. This circuit lowpass filters the voltage output from the piezo sensor. The signal filter removes negative voltages by using a diode. The filter is very responsive to rises in voltage, but decays exponentially.
